"Come in out of the darkness"

New Year, Old Fashion

New Year, Old Fashion

Confetti tumbling from tall ceilings like clumsy go go dancers, sparkles, counting down from 10 with fervor, the sweetness and that small tinge of bittersweet ache when everyone collectively celebrates “HAPPYYY NEW YEAR”. That’s one of my favorite things in life, counting down a new year. That beautiful feeling can be dipped in nostalgic melancholy but overall it’s a glittery, renewed and fun.

I look back on celebrating the new year in 2018. I was at the Artisan in West Hartford and it was a freezing but beautiful night. I was in a much different point in my life - I had just gone through a martial separation. I felt broken in many ways and it took a long time to heal from that. Ringing in 2019, with that completely behind me, a new place I love and lots of life lessons that hurt at the time but made me wiser, I felt stronger and ready. It seemed fitting I was celebrating my cousin’s wedding surrounded by family in a beautiful ballroom counting down the new year. My heart felt full, it felt lighter, it truly felt happy.

For this year, my word is “Light”. To feel lighter, to live in the light, to seek the light, bring the light, and never forget that there is light even in the darkest moments. I’m excited to work with Andrea Franco - who’s both a motivational coach and blogger. I always strive to be the best version of me (although of course I have failed many times) and I feel having someone rooting for my personal and professional success without sugarcoating anything is so important. I’m very excited to also work with Andrea on a professional level! We have some ideas we’ve wrote down and I’ll share with you as they come into fruition.

For my blog, I’m working on writing more consistently, pitching to more campaigns to show my readers a variety of modern/retro goodies, to come up with creative and fun photoshoots and hopefully start hosting some events!

What were the differences from your  NYE 2018 to NYE 2019?

New Year, Old Fashion

It’s 2019 but I’m still swooning over 60’s mad men wiggle dresses, the full skirts of the 50’s that are so feminine and dainty, the bell bottoms of the 70s, and the gorgeous practical yet form fitting silhouettes of the 40’s. I handpicked my favorite ETSY vintage dresses you can twirl and slink into 2019 with!

It’s the New Year and I want to introduce some of CT Blogger Babes to you! :
