Vinyls & Vibes: Elm City Sounds

Right in the heart of the Westville section of New Haven, CT is the sweetest and grooviest record shop. Elm City Sounds is a great store with retro vibes and a wide musical selection. Chris the owner is gregarious and extremely knowledgeable. It’s great learning about the resurgence of records - it’s coming back for good reason. Personally - nothing and I mean nothing beats the sound of "Purple Rain" by Prince on vinyl. That smooth hiss and crackle just lends and evokes such emotion. Gorgeous. I could be in that moment forever.

Chris let me know the most popular/most bought album is Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours”. I love that album and believe it holds up incredibly today. Their songs transcends time and they are being loved and adored by a younger audience each day. The tangible aspect of a record is a powerful thing - from the touch to the look of a grainy yet still vibrant 70’s album cover.
