Vintage Magic by Jenna of Zuri
This is my first installment of Vintage Magic - a series about CT Stylists that can provide you with a vintage look whether it’s for your wedding, prom, photoshoot or a special event.
I’m excited that my first interview features the beautiful and talented Jenna Poitras.
I know Jenna through the CT Bloggers Collective and always swooning over her talent of styling and her own bombshell style. Jenna owns Zuri - a one stop shop for Wedding and Event hair, makeup and styling. I interviewed her about her business, all vintage style, and tips & tricks to get a retro style at home. I also have looks that Jenna did and ways to contact her so you can look like a vintage goddess!
Me, Courtney : Hi Jenna, thanks for doing this interview! Before we get into styles of makeup and hair, tell us about you and your company, Zuri!
Jenna: Zuri is an on location hair and makeup company that specializes in brides and events. We travel throughout New England and beyond for our clients.
I am also a stylist and provide services such as closet edits, personal shopping, personal styling sessions, and hair and makeup services are also available as an add on to these services.
C: What are vintage makeup and hairstyles women often ask for? Do you see a trend lately with any retro style?
J: The vintage hair and makeup trend is always in style. We see modified versions of these classic styles that are recreated in a modern way. The most popular vintage hair style request is for side swept waves. With a deep side part, and one side pulled back with an embellished hair accessory this style is forever timeless. A bold matte lip color and thick cat eye liner is the most popular request for vintage inspired makeup.
C: Do you have a particular vintage hairstyle or makeup look you personally love?
J: I am a huge fan of a deep crimson lip and contoured eye. Vintage makeup as a dramatic flare but that doesn’t mean you have to be wearing a ton of makeup. If a bride is opting for a vintage updo, curls that are sculptured towards the face and pulled back into a low tossled bun is always a favorite.
C: What's a quick way for someone at home to create a retro look with makeup or hair?
J: Here are a few simple ways to add to vintage flare into your style.
- Part your hair to one side, curl all your hair forward towards your face using a 1 inch curing iron, tuck the side with less hair behind your ear and bobby pin it in place.
- adding a beaded or feather head band or broach to a simple bun will draw in those vintage vibes.
C: Lastly where can readers come for your services or set up an appointment?
J: If you are looking for hair and makeup services for your wedding day or next big event you can fill out our inquiry form. We travel to you for all services. We cant wait to work with you.
Editor’s Note: Thank you Jenna and many wishes for continued success! Also -
