Happy 6 Months, Everly!
My first ever puppy. I thought I’d have a “girly” dog - whatever that means. I suppose I mean small, teacup, one I could dress up in bows and glittery tutus and put in my pocketbook.
But I saw you on a rescue site with your blue eyes and the description “sweet” and just knew. Your name was Tempest because you and your siblings were found under rubble in a Texas Tornado. You battled Parvo and almost died. But you survived.
And now you are mine, sweet girl. A blue eyed pit mix, who loves to roll in the dirt, hates any costume and has taught me so much since adopting you in July. I love watching you grow. I remember coming to meet you and was told a family was interested until they saw your splayed legs. Their loss, my sweet new friend. I love your unique legs, your blue eyes that are so pure and blue. I’ve only seen eyes like that in my dear Nana who passed in January.
I’ve learned so much about dogs and pit bulls and love how you are showered in compliments and have picked up lessons in obedience school so quickly. I’ll never forget that week you started mouthing and I burst into tears terrified my sweet girl was going to be a terror. Between classes and your amazing dog walker Claudia, I’ve learned you were teething. You hit your milestones and never keep growing, blossoming and show how smart you are. Your legs never hold you back. I love that. You live in the moment and remind me to stay grounded.
My sweet Everly. Happy 6 months darlin’
