November Reflections
November. There’s such a deep transition for me from October to November. I think of October as a vibrant, colorful full month full of Autumn’s promises of comfort and beauty. Then I think of November, and I think of the stark, naked trees. The chill of the wind that bites your skin, taunting you that summer is gone.
Then I turn to the positives. I dream of oversized sweaters and white candles. I think of plaid blazers, patterned nylons, velvet ribbons in your hair and cashmere scarves. Autumn tablescapes. The kiss and crackle of a wood burning fireplace.
I know holidays can cause strife and chaos for some, but at the heart I feel there’s a deep need for unity. As the weather cools we are brought to connect with our loved ones and talk about the year. November, for all it’s muted sadness and stark landscapes can also be quite beautiful with the most powerful sunsets and cozy nights in. Slink into the comfort of a blanket and enjoy the pause the colder months bring and be kissed by the chill and the faded beauty, the meditative poetry that November is.
