The Thrifty CT Gal Guide
INTRO
My love for thrifted finds started many moons ago. My father passed and my mom was raising three kids on a budget. I found love in summer tag sales as I found a Babysitter’s Club book I didn’t have or the local thrift store where I found a floral dress on trend with the editorials in Sassy magazine. As I got older and started working and making my own income, I appreciated brand new clothing. I saw thrift stores as my past and embraced the brand conscious 2000’s. Bebe, Juicy Couture, Tiffany’s. For a little bit, anyway. I felt the popular looks lacked personality and my love for vintage and pin up style came through. On the hunt for vintage gems, I re-entered the world of thrift stores.
When I’m not shopping for Betty Draper-esque dresses, I look for clothes that pack a punch. I love statement dresses and pieces. Accessories are my favorite thing to thrift - from a grandmother’s beaded bag from the ‘50s, to a unique brooch or 60’s vibrant scarf. They add such color and flair. I recently went shopping at Back on the Rack in North Haven, CT and scored colorblock wedges, a floral tropical dress, a hodgepodge collection of bracelets and a leopard print jumpsuit.
