Holiday Makeover at Angela Maione Beauty
Today was a blustery, cold day in New Haven but I found some warmth and beauty in an oasis in the heart of Orange Street.
Angela Maione is a professional makeup artist who also hold certificates in microblading and shading. I was excited to meet her after corresponding with her through Instagram. My mom came with me so she could take behind the scenes pictures and stream an Instagram live video. We were so happy we came!
The moment we walked down to Glow - The Beauty Suites of 383 - I felt excited. Angela met us, and I couldn't help but notice her warmth and beauty. The Beauty Suites is very much like a one stop beauty shop! It houses impressive, independently owned boutiques that caters to everything from organic spray tans, to eyelash extensions, nails, hair removal and more. The ambiance was uplifting and relaxing - I instantly felt at home talking to Angela and the other women who own and operate in the suites.
Angela was incredibly easy to talk to and informative. We were going to a holiday makeover and I felt as ease with her knowledge and charm. I learned she use to be in the corporate world and did makeup on the side and now she does makeup and microblading full time. I love meeting people who's passions are their careers. It is so motivating and inspiring to me. I also learned she has a degree in both Illustration and Psychology, wrote her own memoir and has another studio in Aqua Salon & Spa in Shelton.
This was my "before":
For the holiday makeover, Angela explained what she was going to do then set it into action. She's amazing at eyes and I was so excited about how she was going to bring out my own eyes. She did a classic cat eye and some gold eye shadow that turned smoky. She brought out on my eyebrows and made them pop. She put on false eyelashes that looked natural, not too overdone. The effect made me look like I had Bambi eyes. I loved it! She added a red lip that was dark and sultry. She also contoured my cheekbones just right. Angela used the airbrushing technique which I never had done, but loved. It made the whole look come together and feel flawless and picture-perfect. She used Visert concealer, Ardell lashes, Urban Decay lipstick, Kett airbrush, Morphe eyeshadow palette, Anastasia Beverly Hills highlight palette, Kat Von D shade and light contour kit, Urban Decay eyeshadow primer, Bare minerals blush and Stila liquid eyeliner. The end result was a gorgeous, sultry holiday look:
Angela not only does makeup applications but does microblading. She is certified and incredibly knowledgeable. I love how she open and honest with her clientele as different skin types can react to microblading differently. Her transparency and warmth were a welcome departure from the cold and clinical attitude that I've experienced from other makeup artists. I truly felt at ease. I would absolutely go to Angela again and recommend her to anyone. Check her out:
