My Favorite Farmer's Markets
My Favorite Farmer’s Markets
A roundup of ten of my favorite markets full of seasonal magic.
1. Milford Farmers Market
Downtown Milford Green – Saturdays (June–October)
This has become my weekly staple and a true favorite. You'll find bouquets that look like they belong in a still-life painting, ceramics with soft glazes, jewel-toned tomatoes, and artisan skincare that smells like summer. They often have home-made jewelry and clothing from local boutiques. You can pick up fresh produce, artisanal soaps and the cutest accessories from boutiques in the area.
2. Westport Farmers Market
Imperial Avenue – Thursdays
This market has a polished vibe — think regenerative farms, eco-conscious vendors, and thoughtfully curated food stalls. The florals are dreamy, the cheeses are award-winning, and there’s a quiet elegance to the way everything is displayed.
3. Monroe Farmers Market
Town Green – Fridays (June–October)
A sweet, community-driven market with a wholesome vibe. They usually have the same vendors, lots of fresh produce from local farms, handmade pies, __________ Bonus: it’s set up next to a historic church and usually features acoustic music, friendly locals, and plenty of parking. .
4. Chester Sunday Market
Downtown Chester – Sundays (seasonal)
Tucked into one of the most charming towns in the state, Chester’s market is where art meets agriculture. After shopping, wander the nearby galleries and vintage shops. It’s a full-day outing for the slow-living soul.
5. Stonington Village Farmers Market
Stonington Borough – Saturdays
This coastal gem is one of the oldest markets in the state. Think salty breezes, heirloom garlic, and artisan pesto. Some weekends even include vintage pop-ups or live accordion music. You’ll want to bring a basket and make a morning of it.
6. Wethersfield Farmers Market
Broad Street Green – Thursdays (May–October)
Set on one of Connecticut’s oldest town greens, Wethersfield’s market feels like a colonial fairytale. Stroll past historic homes while shopping for hand-cut florals, sweet corn, fresh eggs, soaps, and locally made syrups. There’s often live acoustic music and friendly vendors who’ll remember your name the next week.
7. Ridgefield Farmers Market
Jesse Lee Church – Saturdays (seasonal)
Ridgefield’s market has that “storybook town” feel — white church steeples, charming vendors, and a community that shows up rain or shine. Look for handmade granola, seasonal fruits, and floral arrangements that look like they were plucked from a secret garden. There’s usually live music floating in the background — sometimes jazz, sometimes bluegrass.
8. Washington Depot Farmers Market
Judy Black Memorial Park – Saturdays
A tiny but gorgeous market in one of Connecticut’s most picturesque towns (fun fact: Gilmore Girls was inspired by this area). If you like quiet sophistication, this is a must-visit. Stop for antique shopping after.
9. Old Saybrook Farmers Market
Town Green – Wednesdays & Saturdays
Old Saybrook's market is full of charm — small but mighty, with standout baked goods, handpicked veggies, and beachy energy. It’s the kind of place you pop by after the shore, basket in hand and no plan at all.
10. Guilford Farmers Market
Fairgrounds – Saturdays
Guilford is classic New England: white steeples, town green, and friendly farmers. There’s a mix of long-standing vendors and new artisans every week — you might stumble on vintage linens, botanical oils, or the best tomatoes of your life.
