Connecticut Thrift Directory
I absolutely love day-cursions - finding cozy coffee shops with delicious lattes and 7 layer bars, scenic avenues with darling houses and a charm that no photograph can ever truly capture. What I've been doing lately is finding thrift stores in new towns and seeing what treasures I can find. I live in New Haven County in Connecticut but I know there's a plethora of great shops in other pockets of the state (and other states!). I wanted to share with you my favorite thrift/consignment and vintage shops I've personally discovered!
Barn Sale
Hamden, CT
If you are looking for furniture, home goods or quirky items (eh hem like vintage cameras) this is the place to go. Fun fact: It is the oldest consignment shop in CT and they donate all proceeds to local charities. They have a super friendly staff on top of it. They are located next to Goodwill and if you didn't know any better you may very pass it. It's a treasure trove if you are looking for specific décor or hard to find items.
Vintanthromodern
New Haven, CT
The most beautiful curated shop I've seen, Vintathromodern have vintage vibes along with local Connecticut goodies. Vintatromodern is a starry eyed dream with their gorgeous coats that remind of Penny Lane, dresses like Hedy Lamarr and any odd and ends that turn your house into pure retro magic. Every little corner has details that are absolutely fascinating. They are full of books and clutches, scarves, housewares and so many knick knacks that are unique and one of a kind.
Homemaker Thrift Shop
Branford, CT
Branford, CT is my hometown which is full of thrift stores. There's one that is my absolutely favorite. Tucked in the Brushy Hills Parking Lot, Homemaker is full of gently used modern clothes and incredible vintage pieces. I found a gorgeous brown maxi dress I wore to a vineyard for a girl's day. I've also found a collection of vintage brooches - poodle pins and 70's floral pins that make any basic outfit pop.
Back on the Rack
Hamden, CT
Back on the Rack is a treasure trove of gently used luxury brands mixed with vintage goodies. My favorite beaded bags are from Back on the Rack and I've founded gorgeous 60's style dresses, red blazers and dresses perfect for work. They have a great selection of retro fashion and styles but also modern clothes for a great price.
