Captivated by Cape Dresses
Cape Dresses have a mysterious sexiness that conjures up images of sleek starlets sauntering around with their cupid bow's lips and enchanting eyes. I picture names lit up in marquee lights and black and white film.
Greta Garbo wore a cape dress that was Art Deco inspired in the 1926 film The Torrent that popularized this garment. The fifties also saw a rise in popularity in the cape dress - either a full-skirted, sleeveless dress with a matching, elbow-length cape or a beltless, sheath dress with matching cape.
When I saw this powder-y blue cape dress with its silver embellishments, all I thought was Veronica Lake. I had to have it. I love how it fits and the color but also the unique, timeless shape. I've always adored cape dresses - whether they are "trendy" or not. Here are some of my favorites that you can snag too:
This sexy business babe cape dress comes in a powerful navy blue. I love the richness of the color and how sleek, serious yet sexy it is.
This vintage inspired chiffon cape dress is adorable! Perfect for work or school, or a date under the pink and white petals of a cherry blossom tree.
This lovely, darling pink cape dress has an embellished neck that stops traffic. I love the lightness and airiness to it.
